Video Poker is a fast paced game, and the idea is to get the best poker hand that you can across 5 cards. You´ll get dealt 5 initially, and then you have one round in which to swap out some (or all) of the cards. Depending on the variant you are playing, wild cards may be in play (that make up a poker hand)- eg in Deuces Wild poker.

The payout will depend on the game, but they are all based on a poker ranking of cards. So 2 pair will probably get you something, three of a kind definitely will, a full house will pay generously and if you land a royal flush (and you have bet the maximum) you will scoop the jackpot.

The Rules
In Video Poker you're only playing against the computer and not against other players.

1. You make a bet.
2. The casino gives you 5 cards.
3. You make a choice as to which cards to keep and which cards to bin.
4. The cards that you have thrown away are replaced by the casino.
5. If you land a winning hand, you receive a payout according to your hand and the payout table. If you do not land a strong enough hand, yu lose the bet.

Rules of Variants
In Deuces Wild the deuces (2s) are wild. So you could use them to make up a Full House, for example.
In Jacks or Better a pair of Jacks pays out (it is the lowest winning hand).
In Jokers Wild Joker(s) will be in the deck of card. The Jokers are wild, so you could use them to make up a three of a kind, for example.
